It seems that just when you want your child to do something, wear something, eat something, and in this case not watch something...it triggers something in their brains to do the exact opposite. This sums up Hayden. If he isn't supposed to touch something...he will. If he shouldn't be eating something...he does. And if there is a show on the Disney Channel that I don't want him to watch because I know it is just an annoying headache waiting to happen...he will make it his new favorite show. Case in point: The Doodlebops.
Any time this show was going to be coming I would run for the remote and quickly turn the channel to avoid either Maddie or Hayden getting the chance to even watch-ev
en for a second. A couple of weeks ago, I must have been slacking off in my job to be watching for said 'Doodlebops' to be coming on. Suddenly Hayden was in love with this cheesy show (no offense to those of you who happen to love the yellow man, blue man, and purple lady) and has been hooked ever since. It has gotten worse. "How could it get worse?" you might be asking. My Parents magazine arrived in the mail and the kids always love to look through it. There just so happened to be a picture of the beloved Doodlebops on one of the pages and Hayden took it out of the magazine. He began carrying it around the house and at bedtime he wanted it by him on his pillow. I didn't think much of it, because how often do two year old little boys pay attention to the same thing for more than a minute? Here we are 2 weeks later (2 WEEKS!!) and we are still carrying around the picture of the Doodlebops everywhere we go. It goes to the grocery store, it goes to the bus stop to pick up Maddie, it goes to the dinner table for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it goes to Nana and Pop Pop's St. George house to visit Nana, it goes to bed with him EVERY night. There have been times that we haven't been able to find the picture and Hayden won't do anything else until he finds the picture.
So yesterday I took Hayden to nursery and told him I would be back. He has his weeks where he doesn't want to go to nursery so we always try to duck out the door when he has found something
to do. Well he saw me leaving and looked up and said "Where are my Doodlebops?" I saw this as an opportunity to leave without him having a fit and said "I'll go and get them and bring them with me when I pick you up." He said okay and went back to playing so I figured I was in the clear. Josh and I were sitting in our combined 5th Sunday lesson when the Primary secretary peeks in and so does a crying Hayden. I went over and took him. He looked at me and said "I was a good boy...where are my Doodlebops?" There was only 10 minutes left before the end of church so I figured it wasn't worth trying to send him back so he sat on Josh's lap with his picture until the end of class.
I am hoping that this will pass but I guess I can't complain too much...it is the only show he will sit still and watch from beginning to end. So it comes in handy during the day. So if you are ever looking for a show that will drive you insane but just might entertain the 2 year old in your life...try the Doodlebops and then I will have some company!

You have company...don't worry! But, with us it is the movie "Cars". Aiden would watch it over and over and over again if I would let him! "Cars" is a cute movie...but once you have it memorized, it's not so cute anymore! Hope things are going well!
