The joys of decorating for Christmas!

The day after Thanksgiving is our day to set up everything for Christmas. This year especially I was wanting to get it up just so I could cross it off that giant "Before the baby comes" to do list. So we set up the tree with only a couple of minor problems (we bought a pre-lit tree last year and couldn't find the plug that connects the bottom half with the middle....and of course a little boy named Hayden who became completely entertained with the idea of taking ornaments off as we put them on) I put up all of the garland, the nativity, and all of the other boxes of Christmas stuff up and by then it was too late to put the lights up on the house.

So Saturday we went out while Hayden was down for his nap and I did all of the lights and garland around the doorway and Josh braved his fear of heights for the second year in a row and hung the lights. (Paul, we miss you still! Any time you are down and want to put them up or take them down there is still Dr. Pepper waiting for you!) We plugged them in and had our Christmas Vacation moment, took a picture and went inside before we froze...(yes it is cold down here too even if there isn't any snow!) The next night we plugged the lights in and ran some errands. When we came back, the lights around the doorway were on...but the lights on the house were out. So Josh went back out to fix what he thought the problem was and they came back on. The next night he decided to put the lights on some of the trees and bushes too. He came in freezing from being outside for 2 hours only to have the lights on the house go out again after only a half an hour! Aren't the holidays fun?!!!

Rachel,
First of all I am glad that you did your own Thanksgiving too. It was hard work, but I didn't do a turkey, which is probably the hardest. We had shrimp and crab, which takes about 5 minutes to cook. Second of all, I love your blog. I think I loved it awhile ago when you sent it but I pay much more attention now that I blog too. How did you do that creative header thing? How did you do all the creative things on here? It is awesome. Anyway. Good luck with baby very soon. We'll be thinking of you.
