Maddie's first dance recital!

This last weekend was dance recital weekend here at the Hood home! Thursday night was her dance practice and then Friday night was the dance recital. Her dance teacher told all of the parents at the dance lesson on Monday night that she wanted all of the girls to have curly hair with two pigtails. So Thursday afternoon...for an entire hour I curled Maddie's hair. And if anyone has any tips on how to get mascara on a 5 year old...I am up for tips before the next recital in the spring! She had more on her eyelids and under her eyes than on her actual eyelashes! We arrived at the auditorium and she was so excited to dance...until she saw the stage and the stage fright hit. She looked at me and said "I can't dance up there!" So we talked and waited for her class' turn to dance and she did great. She was nervous but for a first time, she did a great job. The day of the performance she wasn't nervous to dance at all. It was fun to get to watch her perform. Although, I do know now what my Dad was talking about when he said "We spent a lot of money to watch you "shuffle-step" for 2 mintues!" So now the fun has been passed to me and in the back of my head I kept thinking that but at the same time...to see the smile on her face made it all worth it!
