Our Easter Week(end)...

My Mom and Ashley stayed here this last week ( minus a day or two at Jake and Ash's house) so that the kids could all get together and play. I taught Ash how to make the hair bows and the kids played themselves silly. We did a lot of shopping, playing, and laughing. We spent a lot of time at the park and it was so nice to be outside in the sun! (No tan though...not for me!)

My Dad and Austin came back down Thursday night and Jake came up Friday. We went to dinner at the Mongolian Barbeque and it was so good! Everyone else in town must have had the same idea. It was packed. The lady that runs it was too busy for her usual chopstick lessons for the kids and the attempt to get Hayden to try some! (It never works!) We played Probe that night. For those who have never played-it is a word game. You pick a word and spell it out with letter cards face down. Each player gets a chance to guess letters until they can guess your word. (A lot like Wheel of Fortune) I picked a word that in retrospect wasn't nearly as good as everyone else's and mine was guessed first. I had picked the word TIRED! But I do have a great word for the next time we play!!

The Easter bunny visited our house Saturday morning because he is so thoughtful to take in account that our ward meets at 8:30 in the morning. It confused Maddie a little because she had been counting down the days to Easter and knew it was on a Sunday. Hayden on the other hand was too busy being thrilled at all of the eggs scattered all over the house filled with candy! We had our neighborhood easter egg hunt Saturday morning too. Each yard was set up for an age group and the kids were let loose to grab eggs. After the hunt was over we had breakfast and had fun talking. We then headed over to my parents house and decorated easter eggs. To sum up the activity...4 grandkids (6 and under), 6 cups of dye=disaster! They had a blast but there was dye everywhere by the time we were done! Ashley vowed to never do eggs with little kids again but she will change her mind by next year. My Mom set up an Easter egg hunt in the front room and had all of the kids find eggs and then gave them their easter presents. We packed up all of the sugar overloaded kids and hauled them up to the park for some much needed play time. We had to burn off all of that sugar somehow! But a million other parents had the same idea too! The park was crowded but they had a great time anyway! We had an Easter picnic and then Jake and Ash headed for home because Ashley had to teach her Young Women's class the next morning.

So my parents and Austin came over to our house and we had dinner and played Wii bowling! Easter Sunday was pretty calm but it was nice. We went to church and then came home for pictures since I am still pretty horrible at estimating how much time it takes to get 3 kids and 1 husband dressed and to church in time. We came home and then did the Easter outfit pictures. It was a great week. We had so much fun...so much that Hayden keeps asking (every 5 minutes!) if Sydney and Brooklyn will come back so he can play with them! I think we will let them recover from the week before we go to see them next!

So cute. I agree with you about dying Easter eggs...it's a mess every year...but each year... I can't resist doing it again. Your Easter day picture of your kids is so perfect. I didn't even think to take a picture of my kids in their nice Easter clothes.

Such a sweet family, Rachel! Ashley looks so cute! Hey, I found this cute little poem in response to your last entry. (I found it ironically while "cleaning" out Charly's room!)

Cleaning and scrubbing
can wait 'til tomorrow
For babies grow up
we've learned to our sorrow
So quiet down cobwebs
dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby
and babies don't keep.
