I have been "playing around" with my camera since I got it a few months ago. Since I work for Kellie, she has given me some tips here and there and one of them was to learn to shoot in manual. Simply put, this means that the photographer has complete control over every aspect of a picture. I had tried and got a couple of pictures but for the most part crashed and burned. So I would put it back on auto and continue to take my flashy uncomposed blurry photos. (perfect example...blurry Santa...'nuf said!)

We would learn and then go out and practice. They brought in kids and teenagers for us to use. They were troopers because they had about 24 crazy ladies each with a camera in their face. I could never ever ever do that...not ever. But they were great and it was awesome to be able to practice and ask questions!

I learned a ton and ended up with a bunch of pictures...here are a couple of my favorites...

And while I am on the subject...if you are in the neighborhood and want to learn how to photoshop....Kel and I are teaching a class together! It will be 8 weeks of photoshop fun! You know you want to come! We will post more info this week...it will probably start in March! Click here for more information!

Hey Rachel. It's Steph Davis Nydegger. How are you? I found your blog on Lindsays. Your family is so cute. Send me your e-mail to stephnydegger@hotmail.com and I will send you an invite to my blog (it's private). Anyway, I love your post on photography. I took several classes over 7 years ago and I finally have my pro camera- Nikon D60 (I'm saving up for the big D200, but that is many years off). I LOVE photography, photshop and all that jazz. Hopefully one day I will do a little side buisness with it, but for now, it's just a hobby and major stress outlet for me. :) Your pics are GREAT!!! Talk to you soon. Steph
