A "dam" tour

Josh had some time off from work so we headed down to Hoover Dam. I remember driving through when I was little. We lived in Mesa and would drive to either St. George to see one set of grandparents or Salt Lake to see the other set. So we drove through a million times. I hadn't been there forever and wanted the kids to have a chance to see it.

Josh and I had to laugh because they thought we were swearing every time we said "We are going to go to the dam." Hayden looked at me and said "When are we going to 'that' place?"

HA HA HA!

My sister told us to go earlier rather than later because the traffic can be horrible. We laughed as we passed a sign at a gas station just outside the dam that said "Life is too short to sit in dam traffic"...I am still kicking myself that I didn't make Josh stop so I could get a picture of it.

Then we hit this...

Yup, dam traffic.

Actually it wasn't horrible, we didn't have stop and go until we were down by the actual dam.

Poor dog, what a way to go.

What was funny to me is that this wall seemed just as big, if not bigger than I remembered it.

But this was so much smaller...

The whole Hoover dam road seemed to last an eternity when I was little. It really isn't that long. Funny how perspective changes when you grow a couple more feet! :)

The obligatory photo. Grace refuses to look and decided to raise the bar by putting her finger in her nose.

The whole place really is amazing. The road above is the new road they were finishing that cuts across the dam. I would probably pee my pants driving across it.

Haha...got her!

In true Gracie fashion, be cute one minute and fall on the floor being a princess the next.

I didn't do anything in photoshop to this water. It really was this pretty dark blue. It is crazy how much it has gone down though.
The part I was looking forward to the most isn't even there anymore. You know, the line that separates Nevada and Arizona. When I was little what I remember most is how my parents would slow down so that they could tell us they left us in Arizona while they sat over Nevada. It was also in one of my favorite movies "Fools Rush In". I was bummed they took it out. All that is left is this:

I love this picture. My baby.

At the end of the tour they got their souvenir...a dam magnet. They were thrilled.
