I was in the store yesterday and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. On the sound system was Christmas music....already? I heard that a station up in Salt Lake was already starting to play Christmas music on the radio. There was Christmas decor set up by the Halloween stuff long before Halloween had even come. After Christmas, they'd better start putting up stuff for the 4th of July!! I guess I am a bit old fashioned. I like taking one holiday as it comes, not jumping over holidays to get to the one with all of the fancy bows and lights and trees. I LOVE Christmas, don't get me wrong, it is one of my favorite holidays. But to me, Thanksgiving is a holiday that doesn't get as much credit as it should. It is a time to look at my life and look at how much I have been given and how blessed I am. Our world is so full of "get this, get that" that I don't stop enough to think about how much I already have. And it isn't the big things, it is all the million little things, that if one day they were gone, would affect me the most. There is a quote that I have that I love. * Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never have enough. –Oprah Winfrey * How true is that? So from now until Thanksgiving I am going to take a letter (or 2, to get done before Thanksgiving) everyday and find something that I am thankful for that starts with that letter. We'll see if I can get them all in!
