"YES!!! It's Christmas time again!"

It was dark in my room this morning when I heard a little voice say "Mommy, it's morning!" I squinted and looked at the clock and sure enough...it was 8:30 in the morning. (they let me sleep in a little!) "Good morning Mads...how was your sleep?" "Great, and guess what Mom- it is Christmas time again!" I couldn't figure out what she meant by that until I opened the blinds and there was snow falling to the ground. We had told her around Christmas time that she would know Christmas was close if it snowed-since it rarely does. She was so happy this morning. She said "We need to write a list for Santa!" I felt bad because her little smile and the bouncing up and down was so sweet. "Mads, it isn't Christmas for a long time. It just snowed here this morning because it is cold." "Yes, cold enough for Christmas!" So we had to look at the calendar and show her it was February and where December is. But now here I sit all bundled up and wondering if I should do the grocery shopping today or if I should put it off another day. But even as I write this I know that my Salt Lake self would smack my whiny 'it's too cold and snow is sprinkling on the ground' self and tell me to suck it up. I remember bundling the kids up and piling in the car and turning the heater on full blast. White knuckle driving it all the way to the grocery store or an appointment and making it. I have always hated driving in the snow. I love snow, I really do but as long as it stays in it's place. No roads-no sidewalks and not on the car. When I went to Salt Lake last month to visit my family I had to borrow the snow scrapper from my parents because ours is buried in our garage here somwhere with the shovel. I think that snow storms are the only thing I don't miss about living up north. But maybe in some way I have become a bigger wimp than I was before. So I guess I will suck it up and get the grocery shopping done...today.
