We're getting there....

This weekend my family came down so we could celebrate my Dad's 51st birthday. I am sure he would love knowing that I just said how old he is! This also became the weekend we have been trying to get the backyard finished before it starts getting any hotter than it has been. Our next door neighbor has a landscaping business and his brother does curbing so we had his brother come on Tuesday and put the concrete curbing around the backyard. Josh has been doing sprinkling system stuff and this morning we had our sod laid. Things are starting to get put together back there. It will be so nice for the kids to be able to go outside and play. We still have to do bushes and trees and flowers along the boarders and where the huge mound of dirt is where we are doing a huge planter.

On another note...I can't believe Maddie is registering for Kindergarten on Tuesday. This last Tuesday we took her in for her kindergarten physical. She knew shots would be coming. When two nurses came in with 3 shots her eyes were the size of golf balls. They asked her to lay down on the table and I came to hold her hands. The first one she looked up me and kind of giggled and said- "I'm being brave, right Mom?!" Just then the second one went in and I said "You're doing great!" And then the third one went in and the tears were welling up in her eyes and she said "Okay, they are starting to hurt now. I don't want anymore." The nurses said that they were done and that they had a special treat for her. Suddenly she sat up with a big smile on her face and said "Know what Mom, now I get to go to school and I won't ever get sick again!" I wish it was that easy. I didn't want to crush her hopes of never getting sick again and at the same time still let her feel like a big girl. I told her that the shots only help us from getting really really sick. She looked at me and said " I just want shots that make me never have stuffy noses and hurting tummies." When they come out with that vaccination...I will be first in line!!
