Look what I made!!!

I bought a bunch of strawberries at the store and and had a completely Sally Homemaker idea pop into my head to make strawberry jam. When I was growing up my Mom would have "canning season" as I would like to call it. She would have boxes and boxes of fruit piled high in the kitchen and she would spend hours at the sink and stove cutting fruit and putting it into bottles and then sealing the bottles in some weird metal contraption on the stove. She would always ask if I wanted to come and help her so that one day I could do it for my family. I would help her but my response was always "We will just buy it at the store when I am a Mom." And for the last 7 years that is pretty much what we have done. But today was different. I bought all of the stuff I would need to make jam and came home and started cutting up strawberries and blending them up. I of course cheated and I did freezer jam. No stove and no sealing bottles. Just cut, whirl, stir, pour, sit and then into the freezer. And I am still in shock that it was that easy. I have always avoided it because it sounded like a lot of work. But now I am wondering why I didn't try it earlier. I called my Mom up on the phone while I was finishing my second batch and told her that the prodigal daughter had returned. I am now scheduling a lot of cooking classes to attend in her kitchen. Smuckers will still get my money for grape jelly but I have enough strawberry jam to last for a long while!

It was good to see you this past weekend! Good job on your jam! I like freezer jam better than canned jam anyway!
