So I will start out by saying that I was a bit of a slacker with Easter this year. The box of Easter stuff went undiscovered. I tried to find the box out in the garage with the sea of other boxes but no luck. So of course, I put it on the mental "honey-do" list for Josh. I reminded him a million times and even left one of my notorious sticky notes but nothing. So Friday I was starting to panic! See, in this town, when something sells out you can't just run to the next town's store such as Target to get what you need. When it is gone-it is gone. Unless you want to pack up for a trip to Vegas...which doesn't sound half bad! Anyway the plastic Easter eggs that the Easter bunny always brings full of candy were selling out fast. I realized that the only way to get the eggs was to load the kids up in the car and race down, beat all of the other Easter slackers, and grab the last package of eggs off of the shelf and laugh as I run down to the register to check out. Maddie of course wanted to know what we were going to the store to buy so I had to tell her "Let's do something really fun and pick up some Easter eggs and put them by your baskets and help him out!" Lucky enough she went for it. We found the picked over Easter shelves and there were a handful of packages so I grabbed a couple and a sigh of relief came over me. We were standing in the check out and a lady tapped me on the shoulder and said "You found Easter eggs?! Where did you find them?" I pointed in the direction of the Easter madness and said "There were a few left, you might be able to get them." She quickly said "Watch my cart!" and she was off. I couldn't believe it ... she was running! Just befoOn Saturday we went up to the lake with Josh's brother's family. As we were driving up the clouds were getting darker and darker. We unpacked, had dinner, Josh and Justin did a little fishing and riding the 3 wheeler with the kids and it began to rain. We hurried and packed everything up and figured at least we tried! Hayden still managed to get dirt in every nook and cranny! And in record time too! He was covered within the first 3 mintues!
On Sunday morning the kids woke up to find the Easter bunny had left trails of eggs and candy and buckets filled with fun stuff that would entertain them for at least a
few minutes. I have gotten some good mileage out of Charlotte's Web (smart Easter bunny!) And as we were dumping the candy from the eggs to the bowl Maddie said "Mom, the Easter bunny loves to give us candy!" (They were pretty much wired for the rest of the day!) After we had breakfast we decorated Easter eggs and since our church is so late in the day we watched Charlotte's Web together. We took Easter pictures and headed off to church and then came home and had our Easter dinner. This time when I pack up the Easter stuff I am marking it in huge letters-maybe I should spray paint it bright pink and then next year I will be ready for it!
