It would happen to me...

Last Friday I had been running errands all over to get ready for leaving on Sunday. I had gone to Walmart, Costco, the park, Josh's office...when I got home and put the kids down for naps/quiet time, I happened to look down at my wedding ring only to discover the diamond and the prongs that hold it in place were gone. Completely gone. I got the sickest feeling in my stomach and a panic swept over me. I started tearing everywhere I could think of apart. I scoured the car, my purse, the floors, the garage, the grocery sacks...everything. No diamond. Maddie came running out to see what all the noise was about and I told her I lost my diamond. She said "No you didn't, it is on your finger!" I looked down at my hand thinking I was just loosing my mind..I do that whether I am pregnant or not. But no, she thought I meant I lost my ring. The ring was there...just no diamond. The jeweler that Josh bought the ring from has a warranty program that if you bring it in for inspection every 6 months and get your paperwork signed, they will replace any lost diamonds. I had been into the store in January and it was due for inspection this month. Here is the problem... I had taken both my engagement and wedding rings in for inspection on time in January but had only brought the paperwork for the wedding band. The lady there used to work at Sears back when I was working as an assistant to the manager over her. She had signed the paperwork that I had brought it in and no work was needed. But here comes the problem. Josh took the ring in while I was up in Salt Lake and talked to a lady there and explained the situation. She said she would have to talk to the manager and they would let us know. So with fingers, arms, legs, eyes and anything else that could be crossed, we waited for the phone call. It came. But it wasn't good news for us. They gave us two options because the actual paper for the engagement ring that I have been faithfully filling out every 6 months for the past 7 years didn't have the signature on it instead of on the wedding band paperwork. Option 1 is to trade in my ring for what the value is and pick out another ring double what mine was worth....or option 2 was that they would be willing to go in half on a new diamond...which aren't cheap! I am so sick that I lost my diamond. I have had dreams that the cleaning crew at Costco are sweeping the big concrete floors with their giant brooms and there in the middle of all of the dust is my little diamond and into the trash it goes. Or maybe the cleaner has really sharp eyes, discovers it and tadah! a little work bonus! Either way we had hoped that just by chance we would stumble across it. But so far no luck. Maybe with my luck, Josh would have been smarter to go with cubic zirconia!
