We quickly learned this year that the 4th of July here is completely different than the 4th of July's that we have had in Salt Lake. One major factor....the HEAT! We got up and had our 4th of July breakfast...blueberry pancakes and got ready. We headed out to Justin and Shana's new home in Hurricane. They are on a beautiful acre lot with apple, plum, apricot, walnut and almond trees. Maddie's highlight was getting to feed the neighbor's horses some apples. (and of course, I forgot the camera!) But standing out in that heat even though it was early in the day was enough to almost kill us! It was already 103 degrees and it was only noon!
We picked up some lunch and instead of a picnic, we opted to eat it in our air conditioned home. THANK GOODNESS FOR AIR CONDITIONERS!! I love ours and it is worth every single penny! We had a quiet afternoon while Hayden took a late nap since we would be up late. We debated and ended up going shopping for a little bit and by this time it was 116 degrees outside. The heat is indescribable. I lived in Arizona....I lived here for 2 summers, but I had forgotten how the heat rises up from the sidewalk and the street and cook you. I forgot how nasty sweat can be. I forgot how hot the heat can really get. And I of course forgot how much a cold glass of water can feel so good on a hot hot day.
