What do you do in the summertime?

I haven't been writing much lately. I wish it was because I was on a beach somewhere with a cute coconut drink with the little umbrella in my hand...but I am not. I am braving my first summer in an oven. I did this once before my first summer between school years at college and I got used to it, but it takes a summer I have been told...many many times. The saying here goes that once it is past 100 degrees, it is just hot and it can't get much worse. I have decided though that I hate hot. Yep. I hate it. So what am I doing here? I was talking to my Mom on the phone and told her that it is a hot version of winter. Unless I wake the kids up at the crack of dawn before the sun is actually up it is a nice 75-77 degrees. But wait until after breakfast and getting ready and all of the playground equipment is blazing hot! We have splash parks here and I brave the sun to take them for an hour, but mostly we stay in the air conditioning as much as possible. The one smart thing we did when we moved here was buy a house that faced west. So when dinner is over we fill up the pool and the kids go swimming in the backyard for a little bit. This "winter" has been the hardest on Hayden. He would live completely outside if given the chance. Maddie on the other hand has said at least a half dozen prayers to Heavenly Father to make the sun cool down so that she can play on the slide again. And every morning she asks if it is going to be hot today. I have to answer that it will probably be this way until October but that we will get used to it. And I know the 107 that we have been having lately will go up...and who knows I just might be writing my next entry from a computer on an island with a cute little coconut drink in my hand! But if any of you want to brave the heat...we would love to have you, we can always make room in the oven for any of you!
