Our Spooky Halloween

Our Halloween happened to last for a weekend and then again last night. This past weekend my parents came down and Jake and Ashley and their kiddos drove up for the weekend. Friday night we all went out to dinner and then stayed up way too late playing games. (but hat is okay because I won!)On Saturday we all got together for breakfast and then Josh and my parents went to the Dixie football game to watch Michelle's new boyfriend play. Ashley and I and all 4 kids went to the hair supply store and picked up coloring for my hair. We brought the kids back to our house for "naps" (need I say more?!) and we colored my hair dark brown. I have highlighted my hair blonde since I was about 12...but it turned out great. Thanks Ash!!! After the game we all headed back over to Nana and Pop-Pop's for the traditional Halloween Spooky dinner. We have had this tradition in our family for as long as I can remember. We have Hawaiian Haystacks but all of the toppings are named spooky things. We have bat teeth(sliced almonds),chow mein noodles (skeleton bones), marachino cherries (bat eyes), etc... After dinner all of the kids dressed up in their costumes for a test run of trick or treating. They went back and forth between the front door and back door and my parents would answer the door and give them candy. They thought it was a blast! We then celebrated Brooklyn's birthday since she would be turning 1 the day before Halloween and we filled up on cake and ice cream.(There are no pictures yet...our camera's battery died and so when I get them e-mailed from my dad I will put them up!)

Sunday was the ward primary program. My parents were still in town so they came to watch. I must say...it was really nice to just sit back and enjoy and watch the primary presidency running around doing last minute changes. Oh the memories!! Maddie did great but couldn't stop waving and blowing kisses to us.

And of course Tuesday night was pumpkin carving night...they ended up looking pretty sad looking but hey...we made memories right?!

Yesterday was Maddie's kindergarten Halloween parade. They had some adorable costumes in her class this year...enough to give us ideas for the next few years! Maddie's teacher is so cute with them and she came home from kindergarten loaded with sugar! Then last night both of them hurried to eat their dinners so they could put on their costumes and go out trick or treating. Josh took them and I stayed home and passed out candy. They came home with more candy than they will ever be able to eat (let me rephrase that...they could eat it all...in one sitting if we let them! So more candy than I will let them eat.) They counted/inspected their candy and then off to bed they went! It was a great LONG Halloween...and they are already looking forward to next year.
