Perspective

There are people out there who rip on blogging, saying it is a waste of time and dangerous and there are those who love it. I personally love it. For several reasons. First is the ability to keep in touch with friends and family. To hear stories that normally I wouldn't get a chance to and to be able to use mine as a family journal of sorts. I love to get perspective from others. Some people I know...some people I don't. I happened to stumble across this blog and have been addicted ever since. This husband writes several times a day. His wife is in the hospital with Cystic Fibrosis and has been waiting for a lung transplant. She was admitted in December and delievered their baby at 25 weeks (?) so he has been living at the hospital ever since. He splits his time between visiting his wife and his little girl in the NICU. He has such a great sense of humor and a great outlook on their life. The saying goes that no matter how bad you think you have it, someone always has it worse. And it is true. I love to read his blog. Especially on those days I feel like complaining about my life. It helps me get things put back into perspective. I write about this now because yesterday they got the call that they have been waiting for and she went in for surgery to get her double lung transplant. Miracles happen, everyday. I am just so glad that it has been happening for this sweet little family. And here is a snippet of one of his past entries...this is the one that got me hooked to their blog...

TODAY

Today marks exactly two months since I last...
Slept in the same bed with you.
Rode in the same car with you.
Was your primary caregiver (in action).
Ate a real meal with you.
Tickled you.
Bought a McDonald's breakfast for you.
Was really alone with you.
Ate your homecookin'.
Got your meds ready for you.
Danced with you.
Really kissed you good.

I've spent more time with you in the past two months that in forever, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. But still, I miss you like crazy.
