This past weekend was a fun one for us! We were able to spend time with my parents and brother, Josh's family, and the Butterfields (our awesome old across the street neighbors!). Saturday morning Josh was up bright and early to go golfing with his Dad, his brother, and his golf buddy. Why he likes to golf in 111 degree heat, I will never understand. But he had a great time!
In the meantime, my family all headed over to the mall where Maddie
finally got the one thing she has been waiting for....her ears pierced. She had asked me a few times before but never made too much of an issue. But then she saw her two cute nieces, Sydney and Brookie, with their "pincess earrings" and suddenly she wanted to join the other "pincesses" and look just like them. Originally, the deal was that if she would go to swim lessons for the two weeks, and not say "I can't do that" then we would go. But this weekend we changed our minds and thought it would be fun to get them done with her Nana. She was so excited to pick out earrings that it she stopped worrying about it hurting. (Which wasn't an easy thing since all the way over, my little brother Austin kept telling her how bad it was going to hurt...thanks Austin!) We happened to be in luck because there were two girls working that day and so they pierced both ears at the same time. In the blink of an eye, she was done! She gave me the funniest look when I told her they were done. All day she couldn't stop talking about her earrings and how it didn't hurt.
After Josh finished golfing we went to Samurai 21 to eat. It was my parent's anniversary that day....why would they want to eat dinner with all of us crazys when they could have a nice quiet meal together without us, I will never know! I have never had my kids sit quietly throughout a meal....ever. But they were completely mesmerized by our chef. Hayden kept waiting for more "fire". Our chef was hilarious, pulling pranks the entire meal! The food was absolutely delicious! I think it is my new favorite restaurant. Thank you Mom and Dad! And congratulations on 30 years together! We love you!
I, of course, forgot my camera to take pictures of going out with Josh's family to Texas Roadhouse but it was fun to get together with them and catch up. We don't get to see each other as much as we would like so it is always fun to get together when we can. Maddie had fun with her cousin Miranda. Hayden of course had fun with the peanuts since it is after all "the peanut restaurant" according to him!
The Butterfields also stopped by to say hello! It is always so fun to see our old neighbors. It was so sweet of them to stop by. We loved having them as our neighbors. We always had so much fun together. Who could have ever forgotten our last minute street barbeque with us, the Butterfields, and the Martz's?! We used to stay out until late at night on our street all talking and letting the kids play. We miss them and it was fun to catch up!
Now that I have typed this all up, I really should have changed the title to Eating our way through the Weekend...since that is pretty much what we did. What else is there to do when it is so hot outside?! Thank you to all of our family and friends for a great weekend!!
