When the family gets together...

When Josh and I were engaged he took me to the driving range. Lets put it this way, he has never taken me again. I was bad. Really bad. So bad that my ball would just roll down the hill in front of the tee bad. I knew he liked to golf but it wasn't until after I married him that I realized just how bad the sickness is. I joke that he tricked me. He sold off his golf clubs when were engaged for our honeymoon to Florida. He claimed he wouldn't be golfing that much.

Flash forward to the present. Josh's Dad came down because there was a tournament this last weekend that they were going to play in. Josh of course was so excited. There isn't a tournament that he won't turn down. Funny coming from a guy who really wouldn't be golfing that much! HAHA! I learned early on that golfing is the Hood way. All Hoods golf. All of them. No matter the weather, if there is a chance to go golfing Josh is there.

So this weekend Brian, Tina, Zach, and Tyler drove down for the weekend and we got together with Justin, Shana, and the kids. Friday night we went to a restaurant called "The 19th Hole" (no big surprise there!) and the boys all sat around the table looking at all the pictures of various golfers on the wall rambling off their names, what tournaments they won, etc. SO FUN! :)

Tina came back to our hotel room to help put kids to bed while the boys went and tried out go cart racing. The kids were wired! For some strange reason they love hotels. After a ton of coaxing and pleading they finally laid down and fell asleep. Thank you Tina for all your help!

The next morning we were up and off to J's football game. They work those boys pretty hard but they did great. J's team won!

Later that afternoon Josh called to tell me that they won 3rd place! I was thinking the money they won would be just that...money! WRONG! It is money but in the form of credits to the pro shop for what you might ask? MORE GOLF STUFF!! So Josh has been having a great time trying to decide what to get with his "money". Now that is a dilemma.

That night we celebrated by going out to dinner and then took the kids bowling. Maddie was thinking she was pretty much the best bowler in the world...and that would be true if we were talking by Wii standards. But she has never really bowled before.

They loved their fancy bowlin' shoes!

He learned how to bowl from his Daddy...

Her form is a product of Wii Bowling and Coach Daddy

And I will share this story ONLY because it makes the end of this story so much better. Hayden had picked up a bowling ball and was trying to bowl on a closed lane next to us. Me being the Mom that I am (crazy, insane and a tiny bit OCD) in my head thought "Oh no! We need to get that ball back!" The sane part of me that left long ago (or the sign posted by our lane) would have reminded me that there is two good reasons you don't cross the line. One it is a rule, two...the lanes are oiled. Duh. I go booking it down the lane chasing after the ball and in one swoop landed on my butt...hard. It is one of those experiences where you pray no one saw you just biff it and then as you look up and see people are in fact watching you just want to crawl under a rock. Josh was trying not to laugh and at the same time telling me he wished he would have been holding the camera. He is a sweet man. The ball continued rolling down the lane. I know that the nice guy that was running the alley at the time saw me be an idiot but never said a word. He just pushed the button that reset the lane and the ball came back through the return. Despite a wrist that hurt like crazy...I pulled off a win. Josh said he didn't know it was a "competition" but everyone knows there is no such thing as bowling for a good time right?!

Not the best score in the world but it is still 1st place! :)
