Snow Day!

We woke up this morning to a blanket of white snow. I haven't seen this much snow stick around here ever. I rushed to get Maddie ready for school but all the kids wanted to do is look outside at the snow in awe. Maddie begged me to let her go out and play but I told her that she would be late for school. We arrived at the school only to find one car in the parking lot. Because of the snow, they had cancelled school. I chuckled to myself a bit because in Salt Lake this would have been nothing! On our way home kids were coming out of their houses and making snowmen or pulling out things to sled on. So when we got home what did we do?! We joined in the fun. The kids had a blast with the snowball fight and I showed them ("reminded" them) how to make a snowman. They had so much fun. Maddie looked up at me while we were building the snowman and said "See...it isn't bad to live where it snows Mom!" We came back in to warm up and Josh called to tell me that the form of salting the roads down here is a pick up truck with a guy in the back sprinkling it on the ground. I LOVE IT!

Maddie oversaw Project Snowman:

Maddie and "Freddy"

She has been practicing on the carpet just in case a day like today just happened to come around!

Hayden on the other hand pretty much was obsessed with making snowballs and throwing snowballs at us and Josh's poor defenseless car!

St. George is a bunch of whimps when it comes to snow...I've stood out on the playground for recess duty in more snow than that. LOL I think it's a hoot how they were salting the roads. When I did my student teaching (a few years ago) the schools were closed for a day. (1 1/2 inches then!) It was funny seeing people use brooms and garden shovels to "unbury" their cars. See, the kiddos want to live in SLC. Yes, I am twisting your arm and trying to get you to conform!
