3-0

I am not usually one for announcing my birthday. I don't write it on calendars... I don't make a big fuss about it. (I do like Josh to fuss a little bit though...I would be lying if I said I didn't ;) hehe!)

However, this year is a pretty big milestone. 30. The big 3-0. The end of my 20's and the beginning of another decade. I have been dreading it in so many ways. I don't feel old. So I shouldn't be old. Right?

So in the middle of "mourning" it suddenly hit me. WOW. I have three adorable kids that smother me with kisses, drive me crazy, and love me to pieces. I have a husband who makes me laugh every day. He listens to me talk and talk and talk and ....of course talk! I have amazing friends. Really really amazing. I have a wonderful family on both sides. What more could one girl ask for?

I read a blog awhile back and she started a great tradition of what she does on her birthday. I think I might just steal it and use it too. She wants her kids to look back and remember what she was like right now. I remember my Mom when I was little but I forgot so many little details, the little things in day to day life. My kids are little enough that they won't really remember what life is like right here and now. So here it goes....

...You love to help me in the kitchen. No matter what I am making you want to pull up your chairs to the counters and help dump things in and count how many eggs I crack. You pull your chairs up to the oven and ask me to turn on the light so you can watch it bake.

...When I say the word "tubbie" I suddenly have 3 little kids who squeal for joy. Maddie hops in the shower and Hayden and Grace, you get in the tub next to it and you love to make me laugh because you entertain each other from between the glass. I love seeing your cute little faces covered with bubbles and big grins.

...You love "cuddle time". I worry that the day will come all too soon when you will be too old and won't want to anymore. It is my favorite and I will love it every time we get the chance.

...You believe I make lunches and dinners with "love". I do, of course. But you get a kick out of me blowing a kiss into your lunch bag or onto your plate before dinner time.

...You love to dance with me in the car when our favorite songs come on. You shriek and say "It's your song Mom!" We dance and laugh at the people who stop next to us and see us dancing away at stop lights.

...You think I know everything, can fix anything, and can do anything.

...I stink at the whole tooth fairy thing. Thank goodness for your Dad. :)

...You never stay in bed the first time. There is always something you forget to say or another hug or kiss you just HAVE to give us before you go to sleep.

...I am starting my own photography business and it is scary. Scary to put something I did out there for people to see but at the same time I want you to see that you should work hard for what you want. If you want something, to go for it. I want to be a good example.

...I liked my hair brunette but I love it blonde. Maddie, you were sad we weren't "twins" anymore but now you are just happy we both have long hair.

...There are days that the fighting drives. me. in-sane. And then I give you the mother's curse. For the ____ time. Your future spouses are gonna love me. :)

...I love having a quiet house for a couple of hours when Maddie and Hayden are at school and Grace is napping but I love when you come home from school because I miss you.

But most of all I want you to remember how happy you make me. How I know that this point in our lives is going to fly by whether I want it to or not.
I am so glad I have you and that I am doing exactly what I wanted to be doing right now. I am right where I want to be. So here is to many many years to come.
