What's up?!

I am not going to even start saying how busy things are...we are ALL busy. There is only so many hours in a day. We are all given the same amount. What we choose to do with them is up to us. I have obviously ignored the blogging on my to do list. Yes, I make to do lists. I am OCD like that. Now whether or not I complete them every day is another story. One that has been repeating on my list for the last week has been poor Hayden's birthday.

Somewhere between day to day activities, starting a business, and a new calling that I have NO. IDEA. what I am doing, things like blogging have unfortunately taken a backseat. Considering that this is my journal of sorts, that shouldn't be happening. I need to blog more often. So here is a brief catch-up on what has been going on...

My new calling? S-C-O-U-T-S
Stop laughing.
Seriously! :)

Alright, so I know I am not the world's most adventurous, outdoorsy, and knowledgeable chick. I am the first to admit it.

Can I...

Read a compass? No. All I know is to Never Eat Soggy Waffles.

Start a fire with my bare hands? No. Give me a match and I am your girl.

Tell you how batteries work? No. I just know when kids toys need replacements.

Tell you the different kinds of bridges and why they are structurally different? Nope.

But I can...

Craft with the best of them. Give me some wood and we can come up with some project.
(I will have to learn to restrain myself from pulling out the can of glitter spray. The dad's may not appreciate their boys coming home with glitter frames or sparkly paper towel racks.)

I know that this was the reason I was called. ;) I am sure the bishop thought "You know, that Sister Hood can really craft. We have got to get that girl into scouts!" HAHAHA!

I have been in for a little over a month and a half and now already know the difference between a den and a pack and I now know what a Blue and Gold banquet is and that the Arrow of Light award is a BIG deal in the scouting world. See? Improvement already.

We had Hayden's birthday last week. He was so excited to be 5. This means kindergarten and he wants to go. He wants to ride a bus, be at Maddie's school, and even more importantly, play on the playground at recess.

He is my adventurous kid. He is curious. He doesn't just assume things work. He wants to know why. This has led to the destruction of quite a few things around the house. As he has gotten older, he has mellowed a bit but I think he still knows how much I love to be on my toes. He loves to hug, loves to tell us that we are his "favorite", and loves to tease his sisters. He fills the role of boy around our house perfectly.

He wasn't in school on his birthday but Josh had work and Maddie was at school. So we were running errands and I told him I would take him somewhere from lunch. We were at the grocery store and he saw this:

and it was all over. This is what he wanted for lunch. I would have taken him anywhere and all he wanted was a Kid Cuisine. I NEVER buy these. NEVER. So I guess he figured the only way he was going to get one was on his birthday. He was right.

He was one happy kid. I didn't hear one peep out of him at lunch. I didn't have to beg him to eat. That was worth it to me.

He picked Fudruckers for his birthday dinner. My parents and Grandma met us there and we had fun! The waitress came around and asked if it was anyone's birthday. We told them it was Hayden's and she said she would be right back. She came back with the biggest hot fudge sundae I have ever seen. I have pictures on my phone but since I am trying to get my to-do list shrunk, it will just have to go without. But trust me, it was BIG.

I didn't think Hayden would eat it all. He had eaten all of his dinner and I thought he would be full. We were sitting around talking and he started eating. I looked over a few minutes later and his face was covered in ice cream and it was gone. He is like his Mom...there is ALWAYS room for ice cream!

We headed back to the house for cake and ice cream and presents. He finally got a big boy bike and they have been inseperable ever since. I have pictures there too, but just not uploaded. I am a slacker. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAYDEN! I LOVE YOU!!! xoxo

We are also in the beginning stages of potty training Grace. We have spent a few hours sitting around in the bathroom waiting for "IT" to happen. She just likes to sit there and talk. I am not forcing the issue at all because I did that with both Maddie and Hayden and it took FOREVER to train them. So this new approach is interesting. Fingers crossed it happens soon. I am SO done with diapers.

And last but least...the weather is warming up. HALLELUJAH!!!!! I coudn't be happier. I have decided this winter that I really am a summer kind of girl. Snow stinks!!

To celebrate I am going to have a big announcement on my site. If you need pictures...you will love this. If you don't need any right now, but know someone who does...you will both like this! I am hoping to get it up and going in the next week or so! So check back!

Haha Scouts! I just got released from scouts, yay! I was only in there for about six months so either they thought I was doing a crappy job, or they realized that doing scouts and having a new baby wouldn't be too fun, so they called me to be the assistand librarian, how great is that!

Wow you are so so busy, however you are also so good at getting all done and staying calm and collected (unlike me who had a melt down tonight, yeah lets blame it on the pregnancy, right?) Any way, laughed at the birthday lunch, oh the little things that makes kids happy, and I can't wait to check out your photography blog. You are so AWESOME!

Happy Birthday to your little guy! And about the scouts...I'm just glad it's you and not me! LOL That's so mean. I know. Especially since I am the parent of one of those 10 year old boys!! And good luck potty training. It's so not my favorite thing to do!
