Yardwork? In January? I remember when I was little doing yardwork in January when I lived in Arizona...but that was years ago. But here we are on a 48 degree Saturday beginning to put our backyard in. Since we moved in- our backyard has been driving Josh nuts. Landscaping runs in the blood of the Hood family. His grandpa was addicted to it...and raised Brian (Josh's dad), Josh and his brother Justin to love it too. Golf and grass-what else is there in life? Justin loves it so much he is the superintendent at a golf course down here. I had no idea this obsession ran so deep until I was married to it! So when we bought the house, Josh was so excited because he has big plans for the backyard. He has a few requirements. A putting green is without question. In the far left corner will be a waterfall with some palm trees. We are going to curb around the back with 3 feet of rock and concrete and then grass the middle. We are going to put a play area/dog area over on the right. BIG DREAMS! We will see how long it will actually take to put in. When we had put in the backyard in our home in Eagle Mountain, I think I had forgotten all of the work it takes. Josh was out there raking up rocks every night after work and trying to get it level before we could even get the grass in. I found pictures of us working on that backyard and remembered telling Josh that the next house will already have this stuff done. I jinxed it. Luckily enough- our next door neighbor owns a landscaping company and offered to help us out. He has his bobcat and all of his professional gadgets back there. He ordered our topsoil and is even helping us put it in. His brother does the concrete edging and is going to help us out with that too. So I guess I can't complain! But it is still really stra
nge to me that it is the middle of January and we are work
in
g in the yard.
