Quick update

I cannot thank you enough for all of your sweet comments and phone calls. It has been a scary couple of weeks. I met with my doctor last Wednesday and he went through my pathology report and explained everything to me. We are in luck, nothing to my lymph nodes which means it hadn't spread. That was my biggest fear and now knowing that isn't the case has put my mind more at ease.
The pathologist recommended another 5 cm incision around my current site and to make it look less "ugly" they cut it like a football so they can stitch it up to look like a line (or 'wrinkle' as he put it...I still prefer 'line') and less like I was attacked with a melon baller. Hooray!

The only problem is that where he has to cut, there is a nerve that runs up my neck and to my ear.
Of course there is.

So instead of an in-office procedure, he suggested me going in for surgery.

If luck is on my side, he can take out what he needs to and my nerve will still be there untouched. If luck is not on my side, he will have to take out the nerve and I will have a numb ear for the rest of my life.

Hmmm....

Seems fine to me considering it is WAY better than cancer. :) It is a price I am willing to pay, gladly.

So Thursday is the BIG day. I get to wear my pajamas in public, get a really sweet hospital bracelet, be knocked out, get my scar to look "hot" and put this whole scary mess behind me, kinda.

My dermatologist and I are gonna be best buddies. She gets to do head to toe checks every 3 months for the next year and twice a year for eternity. When I say head to toe...I mean every little nook and cranny from the tippy top of my head all the way down to in between my toes. Now I will pray that not only do I NEVER run into my OB/GYN in public but now also my dermatologist.

SOOooo...

Here is my very own Public Service Announcement.
Go get your yearly skin check. Yes, you.
Wear your sunscreen. Sunscreen rocks.
If you have a mole that you are even the tiniest bit worried about, get it checked.

I am now stepping off my soap box and will update soon!
